Qianlong White Set Red Glass Flower Pattern Slag Bucket, 9.8 cm in height, 10.3 cm in diameter, and 5.7 cm in foot diameter
The slag bucket is round, with a bell mouth, and the abdomen is full and rounded, with rounded feet. The vessel is formed of nirvana glass, covered with purple and red nirvana glass patterns. The abdomen is decorated with intertwined flower patterns, and the connected branches and leaves connect different flowers, such as plum, chrysanthemum, lotus, begonia, gardenia, and peony, in a crisscross arrangement, which is novel and unique. The lower edge of the mouth and the shoulder are respectively carved with a bent banana leaf pattern and a Ruyi cloud head pattern around each. The outer sole is embossed with two sides of frames, and the inner side is inscribed with four characters in regular script “made in the Qianlong era”
In the 27th year of Qianlong’s reign (1762), Hongli ordered that no model year should be used on the slag bucket in the future. Therefore, many types of slag buckets used in various crafts during the Qianlong period were not elegant. This glass slag bucket with the Qianlong model year should be an early work of Qianlong. At that time, the majority of laminated glassware was white and red, with clean white and bright red, with good visual effects. Slag buckets in nested glass ware are extremely rare, and those with clear knowledge are even rarer
