underglaze red plum vase with three fruit patterns, made in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, has a height of 29.6 cm, a caliber of 6.1 cm, and a foot diameter of 11.2 cm
The bottle has a small mouth, short neck, large shoulders, gradually converging below the abdomen, and rounded feet. The entire body is decorated with underglaze red, with plum and seawater patterns painted on the neck, lotus petals and banana leaf patterns painted on the shoulders and shins, respectively. The bottle body is decorated with three fruits, namely, peach, bergamot, and pomegranate. On the outsole, there are three lines and six characters of the blue and white seal script “made in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty”
The three fruit patterns are traditional auspicious patterns in China, with the peach meaning of “longevity”. The sound of “Buddha” and “blessing” in bergamot is similar, and the pomegranate meaning “many children”, combined with “three more”, meaning “many longevity, many blessings, and many children.”.
