The Tongjing screen consists of eight pieces, each of which is embroidered on a beige satin floor with multicolored silk threads. The courtyard architecture in the panoramic view is magnificent, with pavilions and pavilions arranged in an orderly manner. The scene is grand and numerous characters, including civil and military officials, men, women, old and young, as well as numerous artists distributed in the courtyard, creating a lively and festive scene. The fourth and fifth pictures in the picture are at the center of the scene screen, depicting an official dressed in the official uniform of the Ming Dynasty and his wife sitting upright
This screen imitates Qiu Ying’s meticulous figure painting of the Ming Dynasty and combines embroidery with painting. The characters are completely embroidered with multicolored silk threads, using techniques such as set stitch, diagonal winding stitch, mesh stitch, hair applying stitch, rolling stitch, chicken hair stitch, seed punching stitch, needle tying, nail thread, “harmony stitch, and color matching stitch. The embroidery is fine and dense, with rich stitches and bright colors. The use of bright red and green is just right, complementing each other. This screen reflects the application and development of Qiu Ying’s figure painting in embroidery.
