This utensil is made from a bronze tripod, a ritual utensil of the late Shang Dynasty. It has two upright ears, an open mouth, a flat folded edge, an oblique abdomen, a flat bottom, and four legs that are outwardly bent. There are bronze gilded halberds on the abdomen and four corners. The abdomen is decorated with a dragon pattern, and the heel is decorated with an animal face pattern. The center of the outsole is inlaid with a rectangular gilded copper plate, engraved with the inscription “Made in the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty” in three lines and six characters in regular script, and the copper plate is decorated with folded branches and flower patterns around it
The body of this vessel is thick and heavy, and its shape is ancient and simple. Although the glaze has many sand holes, and its color is relatively dark, it still retains the technical characteristics of the Qianlong Dynasty, such as standardized modeling and neat decoration
