Hardwood carved floor type bell

[Hardwood Carved Tower Style Self Chime]

Hardwood Carved Tower Style Self Chime, manufactured at the Qing Palace Fabrication Office, Qianlong, Qing Dynasty, 585cm high, 260 base × 260 cm
This big clock was originally stored in the Huangji Hall, and is the largest bell that still exists in the palace. The front of the upper layer of the clock is a copper plated gold engraved panel, with a white enamel Roman numerals clock plate embedded on it. The top of the attic is equipped with two clock bowls, with engraved clocks on the top and timed clocks on the bottom. The last string can walk for three days and nights
This large mechanical clock consists of three interconnected copper gear transmission systems, namely, timing, engraving, and timing. Each system uses a leather string to tie a lead weight of more than 100 kilograms. The pendulous movement of the lead weight generates power, driving the gear transmission system, and thereby driving the marking hammer rope to ring the clock for marking and timing.
