Red coral tree bonsai

[Red Coral Tree Bonsai]

Red Coral Tree Bonsai was built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty at the manufacturing office, with a total height of 108.5 centimeters, a coral height of 48 centimeters, and a basin diameter of 65-32 centimeters. The old collection of the Qing Palace
A three-layer peach shaped basin is made by combining various processes such as gold carving, wire cutting enamel, and painting enamel. The branches and leaves of copper rods and filigree enamel curl at the bottom and extend between the three layers of double peaches, interspersed and shaded. In the front and back of the peach basin, there are two large bats spreading their wings, holding up a filigree enamel longevity character surrounded by carved gold flowing clouds. Between the three layers of peaches, there are seven small copper plated bats, flying up and down beside the giant peaches. A large red coral tree is inserted in the basin, which is bright and moist, with a large body and evenly distributed branches
The production process of this bonsai is very complex, combining various techniques such as wire cutting enamel, painting enamel, flower carving, and soldering, making it more difficult than ordinary enamel processes. The large coral tree is red in color, as thick as a wrist, and as wide as a fan. It is quite spectacular. It is an auspicious scene displayed by the Qing court only on the day of the emperor’s and empress’s birthday celebrations.
