The dowry box is square and divided into two parts: upper and lower. The upper part opens the toilet box cover, and there is a square box inside for placing bronze mirrors. The lower part opens two doors, and inside there are two carved small doors. Inside the small door, there are four symmetrical drawers, and at the bottom, there is a large drawer, all of which are used for placing toiletries. The joints required for the dowry are equipped with silver plated engraved flower hinges and fish shaped buckles
The decoration of the dowry box uses tooth dyeing and gold painting techniques. Excavate a groove on the painted ground, and fill various dyed tooth inserts that have been repeatedly carved and polished into the groove through adhesive and inlay techniques to form a variety of patterns. On the top, there are bats, peaches, chrysanthemums, and ruyi patterns. At the corners, there are lotus flowers, and on the front, there are symmetrical flowers such as plum, chrysanthemum, narcissus, and camellia, with colorful butterflies flying among them. The other three sides are inlaid with plum and butterfly patterns. Camellia and butterfly symbolize “everlasting”, while bat, peach and Ruyi symbolize “happiness and longevity”. The top of the dowry box is decorated with lotus flowers and bats painted with gold, and the inner wall of the double doors is decorated with mountains, rivers, and pavilions painted with gold. In addition, the dowry box also uses carving techniques, which can be described as a combination of various techniques. The entire artifact is antique, rich and magnificent, and is an excellent handicraft in the mid Qing Dynasty.
