Gold paint is the process of adding gold patterns on the monochrome paint floor, of which black paint floor is the most common, followed by red paint floor or purple paint floor. According to the records of the archives, a large number of gold painted lacquerware were produced during the Yongzheng period, including traditional and imitation foreign lacquerware. The so-called imitation of foreign lacquer refers to the imitation of Japanese black lacquer painting process called “Shipai”. “Shi-painting” is mainly unique in the technology of making and using gold, which is superior to our country. It is characterized by thin body, light body, long time deformation, and bright gold. Emperor Yongzheng always loved the calm and dignified black, which was reflected in various crafts such as porcelain and enamel painting in the same period, and became the era feature of Yongzheng handicrafts. Therefore, the imitation lacquer handicrafts with black as the basic color developed well in the Yongzheng period. The golden longevity characters on this bowl are very bright, obviously using the traditional techniques of our country, that is, the practice of “Chinese fir roll tire” and then pasting linen, which is recorded in the archives. Therefore, it can be said that this bowl is the product of the combination of Chinese and foreign techniques
There are so-called “five blessings” in Chinese traditional concepts. The Shangshu o Hong Fan said: “First, longevity, second, wealth, third, Kang Ning, fourth, you are virtuous, and fifth, you are doomed”. Shou is the first of the five blessings, so the word “Shou” has become one of the important themes in various handicrafts. Shou characters have been used for decoration since ancient times, and more in the Qing Dynasty
