[Shoushan stone double-chi button “Yuanmingyuan” seal]

“Yuanmingyuan” seal, Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, Shoushan stone, double-chi button square seal, Chinese seal. The face is 3.6cm square, the overall height is 7cm, and the button height is 2.5cm
Located in Haidian, the western suburb of Beijing, Yuanmingyuan was originally a garden given by Emperor Kangxi to the fourth son of the emperor, Yinzhen. After nearly a hundred years of operation in the Yongzheng, Qianlong and Jiaqing dynasties, it has become a large imperial garden that integrates the elegance of palace architecture and the euphemism of Jiangnan gardens, and is organically integrated with various forms and different styles of gardening art. It is known as “the model of all gardening art” and “the garden of thousands of gardens”. The emperors of Yongzheng, Qianlong, Jiaqing, Daoguang and Xianfeng lived in the Yuanmingyuan for many years, and held court meetings here to deal with political affairs. Together with the Forbidden City, they were the national political center at that time. In the tenth year of Xianfeng (1860), it was looted and burned by the British and French allied forces
The Yuanmingyuan in Emperor Yongzheng’s seal refers specifically to the garden granted by Emperor Kangxi, and does not include the Changchun Garden and Qichun Garden that were later incorporated
