A clump of orchids is carved on one side of the flowerpot, with bold and unconstrained knife technique. The other side is carved with a seven-character poem in seal script: “Qiqiao Honglou yearns for thirst in autumn, and stands in the cold snow at the night of holding the piano.”
This flowerpot has a unique mud color, and the ochre is gray, commonly known as “squirrel skin”. This kind of mud color is simple and endurable. It was created at Yongzheng and disappeared after Qianlong.
