[Secret Buddhist Thangka]
Secret Buddhist Thangka, 18th century, Tibet, cloth, color, 120 cm high, 72 cm wide, 63 cm vertical and 42 cm horizontal. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The secret Buddha is the dense Vajra, which belongs to the Supreme Yoga Department for the convenience of the father to continue the Buddha, so the Qing Palace called it the secret Buddha of the Yang body. The secret Buddha in this Thangka has blue double bodies, three sides and six arms, and looks angry. The right hand holds the Vajra pestle, Dharma wheel and lotus, and the left hand holds the Vajra bell, Mani and sword. Embrace the princess and touch the Vajra Buddha Mother, and sit on the lotus platform with folded arms, leaning against the rainbow round light. The face of the Buddha mother is like a virgin. Her legs are wrapped around the Lord and she sits opposite. In the heaven, there is the primordial holding vajra, which indicates the origin of the dense Dharma. There are six inheritors on the left and right, including Indra Bodhi King, Dragon Tree, Salaha and the Supreme Buddha Karpa. On both sides of the lower part are the six-arm brave protection method and the two-arm big black protection method, and the Manjusri Bodhisattva Vajra, the secret Buddha, is in the middle
On the back of the Thangka, there is a four-body ink script in Han, Manchu and Mongolian with white silk, and the Chinese text is: “On the first day of June in the forty-third year of Qianlong’s reign, the emperor ordered Zhang Jiahu Tuktu to recognize the Yangti Secret Buddha, a portrait of the benefit.”.
