It is called the root of Bodhicitta of all sentient beings in the sutra. It is named after its strong heart as Vajrayana. It is synonymous with the Xianzong Bodhisattva. Tantrism generally believes that the practice of Vajrasattva can stop all evil thoughts, break all troubles, and produce infinite blessings and wisdom. It is regarded by all sects as the Buddha to worship and practice. It is said in the scripture that the occurrence of Tantrism began with the teaching of Dragon Tree Bodhisattva from Vajrasattva
In Thangka, Vajrasattva is in the center, wearing a treasure crown and holding a vajrasattva in the right hand, which shows the troubles; Holding the diamond bell in the left hand, it shows that Prajna Paramita is alert to all sentiments. Zhou Za also painted three ancestors and more than 200 avatars. There is a Tibetan prayer on the back of the Thangka, the main idea of which is: “Wish you luck! May the merit and virtue of the Vajrasattva portrait eliminate all the disrespect and evil opinions of the auspicious Lama in the path of liberation, and the lineage will be forever passed on!”
This Thangka is made of pure gold and painted with red lines. This Thangka is also known as “Golden Tang”.
