Macartney came in with a firebird gun

[Macartney’s Self-contained Firebird Gun]

Macartney’s Self-contained Firebird Gun, made in England in the 18th century, is 159 cm long and 2 cm in barrel caliber
The gun is resplendent and the barrel is made of iron. It is embedded in the wooden groove, and the lower part is a wooden base. The lower part of the barrel is attached with a bar. The barrel and wooden base are all embossed with gold western flowers and vines, and embossed with various weapon patterns, such as shield, gun, knife, gun, sword, axe, horn, etc. The trigger is inlaid with a wooden military bust, and its cap stud, belt and buckle are all decorated with gold
In the middle of the barrel, there is a line in English: “H.W.MORT IM. LONDON. MAKER. TO HIS. MAJESTY”, indicating the manufacturer and manufacturing location, and dedicated to His Majesty. There is a sheepskin sign on the bolt of the gun, and the sign reads: “In August of the fifty-eighth year, a firebird gun was fired from China”. Although the handwriting is blurred, it can still be seen that there are four characters on the sign: Manchu, Han, Mongolian and Tibetan. This gun was a gift to the Emperor Qianlong in 1793, when the British envoy Macartney led a delegation to China.
