Although iron oxide is used as colorant for yellow color and alum color, the amount of PbO (lead oxide) and Fe2O3 (iron oxide) in them is different. The content of PbO in the yellow color is more than 40%, and the content of Fe2O3 is 3%. Therefore, Fe2O3 can be completely dissolved in the glaze and make the glaze yellow in the form of ferric iron. However, the content of PbO in red color is not high, while the content of Fe2O3 is as high as 30% – 50%. Most of the iron oxide is not melted in the glaze, but suspended on the surface of the lead glaze in the form of ultrafine particles, making the glaze red
