Geometric polyhedron model

[Geometric polyhedron model]

Geometric polyhedron model, made in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, with the box 45.3 cm long, 27 cm wide and 9.2 cm high. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The regular polyhedron in geometry was first discovered and studied by the Pythagorean school in Greece in the 5th century BC, and was called the universe. The regular tetrahedron, regular hexahedron, regular octahedron, and regular dodecahedron were used to represent the four elements of “fire, wind, earth, and water” respectively, and the finally discovered regular dodecahedron was regarded as the universe as a whole, so that these geometric bodies were covered with a layer of mystery
In the 13th article of Euclid’s “Original Geometry”, we discussed these five kinds of regular polyhedrons and proved that there are only five kinds of regular polyhedrons
The geometric model of this box is all refined by Phoebe. A manual is attached to the box, and the box face is written in regular script with the words “No. 71 of each isohedron”. This set of solid geometry models is a teaching tool specially made by the Qing Palace Building Office for Emperor Kangxi to study geometry
