[Blue-and-white Fushan Shouhaitu flowerpot]
Blue-and-white Fushan Shouhaitu flowerpot, in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, is 38 cm in height, 61 cm in diameter and 36 cm in foot diameter
The basin has a folded edge, a sloping wall, a concave edge near the foot, no glaze on the sand bottom, and a round hole in the center. White glaze is applied inside and outside. The outer wall is decorated with blue and white. The folding edge is painted with a lotus pattern, which is mixed with the word “longevity” in seal. The abdomen depicts pines, rocks, waves, rising sun, auspicious clouds, bats, etc. Because the pine tree symbolizes longevity and the “bat” harmonizes with the “blessing” sound, the whole picture implies a bath in the sea and the sky, longevity and happiness. Ruffled hem at the foot. At the lower part of the mouth, there are six horizontal characters in blue and white regular script “made in Kangxi year of the Qing Dynasty”
The blue and white porcelain is elegant, vivid and auspicious. It should be a large piece of porcelain specially made by Jingdezhen Royal Kiln Factory for the birthday of Emperor Kangxi in the late Kangxi period.
