Pao Tuan pattern lacquer bowl

[Pao Tuan Pattern Lacquer Bowl]

Pao Tuan Pattern Lacquer Bowl, Kangxi, Qing Dynasty, 7.4 cm high, 15.2 cm caliber, 6.8 cm foot diameter
The bowl is full of mouth, belly and feet. There are six groups of patterns on the outer wall, each of which is a two-cloud dragon surrounded by a swastika pattern, meaning “longevity and auspiciousness”. The rim and lower abdomen are decorated with a decorative band. The inner wall is painted with black paint, painted with gold paint on the edge of the mouth, and painted with large flowers in the center of the bowl. The four groups of flowers and grass patterns painted on the inner wall are very realistic. This style and technique are similar to the Japanese “painting” process. There are four characters of “Kangxi Appreciation” in the outer circle.
