Bright Yellow Satin Embroidered Cloud Dragon Sable with Sea Dragon Skin Gown, Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, 150 cm in length, 204 cm in length at both sleeves, 17 cm in width at the cuffs, 185 cm in width at the hem, and 54 cm in length at the left train. The old collection of the Qing Palace
This is the winter uniform of Emperor Kangxi. Round neck, large lapel with right lapel, horseshoe sleeve, lapel connected with the court robe, train open on the left, decorated with four copper gilded flower buttons, hanging in the purple sable. The collar and sleeve edges are inlaid with sea dragon edges, and decorated with tricolor plain gold and stone blue auspicious cloud flower pieces. The neckline is tied with a yellow paper label, on which the ink is written “Saint Ancestor”. The robe is decorated with a combination of two-to-three-color halo and fading halo. On the bright yellow satin ground, the patterns of flat gold cloud dragon and sea water river cliff are embroidered. The exquisite embroidery and rich colors fully reflect the calm and dignified decoration style of the early Qing Dynasty.
