The bowl is open, with deep arc wall and round foot. The interior is painted with white glaze, and the exterior wall is decorated with blue ground enamel and peony patterns. The foot is painted with white glaze, and there are four characters, two lines and two circles of rouge color, in regular script “made by Emperor Kangxi”
The official name of enamel color porcelain should be “porcelain body painting enamel”. According to the documents and archives of the Qing Palace Building Office, it is a new porcelain variety created under the instruction of Emperor Kangxi by the craftsman of the building office who successfully transplanted the technique of copper body painting enamel onto the porcelain body. Enamel color flourished in the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods, and was a craft treasure monopolized by the court. The required white porcelain body was specially made by Jingdezhen Royal Kiln Factory, and was transported to Beijing, then painted and burned at the Qing Palace Building Office. The required pattern was drafted by the Ruyi Hall of the Manufacturing Office, and was determined by the emperor, and then painted on the porcelain by the court painter according to the pattern
Enamel porcelain of the Kangxi Dynasty mostly took blue, yellow, magenta, turquoise and other colors as the ground, and painted all kinds of flower patterns with various colors of enamel materials.
