[Rhinoceros horn carved pine double mouse cup]
Rhinoceros horn carved pine double mouse cup, late Ming and early Qing, 10.2 cm high, 13.7 caliber × 10.4 cm
This cup is made of Asian rhinoceros horn, and its color is brownish red. It adopts the combination of carving and relief techniques, and a landscape composition. With pine stump as the cup body, one branch of pine branch is carved on the side of the cup as the handle, and the other branch of pine branch is hung upside down under the flow mouth. Two small squirrels climb and lie in the flow mouth, chasing and playing with each other. Although the cup is thick, its shape is dignified and simple, and its carving is very exquisite. The carved pine bark is like an egg, the pine leaves are like a wheel, and it is as fine as an umbrella. It has the charm of taking it in the quiet and seeing it in the clumsy. It is a masterpiece of rhinoceros horn carving in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties
