[Red sandalwood clapping board]
Red sandalwood clapping board, clear, 26 cm long, 6 cm wide
clapper is a percussion instrument. It is also called sandalwood because it is often made of sandalwood. This clapboard is composed of three red sandalwood boards, which are tied together with velvet ropes. The front two boards are in groups, and the back is a single board. The middle ridge of the back block is convex. When playing, the left hand holds the back block, so that the convex part of its lower end collides with the back of the front two boards to make a sound. The clapper is used in the accompaniment of opera. It is used for tapping. It is often used with a single skin. The clapper plays the drum with one hand and the clapper with the other.
