This picture depicts small landscapes, with a dense composition, and the near and far scenes set off each other. The painting style is between Loudong School and Yushan School. Dong’s paintings were highly praised by Emperor Qianlong, who believed that their artistic level was comparable to that of the master Dong Yuan of the five dynasties, and had reached the point where the painted objects could not be choosy from the brushwork to composition and artistic conception. Therefore, as long as it is Dong’s paintings, regardless of the size of the ruler, there are a large number of collections, and 202 Dong’s paintings (excluding cooperation) are recorded only in Shiqu Baoji. As Zhao Erxun wrote in the “Draft of the History of the Qing Dynasty • Biography”, Dong “has been straight in the imperial court for a long time, entered the imperial works, and searched for a large scale, with a small volume no less than hundreds of inches”
