This picture is a rare work of Wang Yuanqi who learned Huang Gongwang’s painting in his early years. Influenced by his grandfather Wang Shimin, Wang Yuanqi highly respected Huang’s painting and copied it repeatedly. This picture is taken from Huang Gongwang from color setting to strokes. The picture shows that the pine forest and mountain houses are the ideal fairyland in the painter’s mind. With ochre as the main tone, the mountain stones are even chapped and dyed, showing a warm and transparent texture after rain. The trees are mainly composed of horizontal dotted cotyledons, with slightly immature strokes and lack of spatial level changes, reflecting the immature painting style at that time
