[Wang Shishen’s Ink Plum Painting Volume]

The Ink Plum Painting Volume, Qing Dynasty, Wang Shishen’s painting, paper edition, ink pen, 18 cm vertically and 604 cm horizontally
The title at the end of the volume: “A smile rests on a solitary Qiong, and the east wind is in high spirits. The plum blossom is cold, and the gull couple is gradually spring-looking. Good sentences are often found, and the pure joy is seldom seen. When you take the entada, the wine and sentiment are strong. The grass house is windy and beautiful, and the gossip is full of fun. The bamboo table sits side by side, and the spring plate is lined up. In the poem, the iron Buddha (when the West Tang Dynasty produced the iron Buddhist temple poem, there is a sentence that the Buddha looks always at ease, and the iron does not wear away), and in the drunken, the Jingchai (it is very strange for the sons to recite the Wang’s poem of Tongjun women’s history) 。 Remember this meeting tonight, leaving half the moon behind. On the 20th, Meng Chun carried with him the old works of Nian Yun in Xiaozhai. The second day after the Xinyou Mid-Autumn Festival was recorded in this volume. Mr. Boyita smiled. Wang Shisheng of the Nest Forest wrote carefully. ” Seal the white seal of “Wang Shishen”, “Old Man in Late Spring”, and “Left Blind Student”. Jiancang printed “Majikun”. The other two seals are indistinguishable. Xinyou was the sixth year of Qianlong (1741)
Plum blossom has been sung by scholars of all ages due to its cold-resistant character, and is also the favorite theme of literati painters. In “Yangzhou Eight Monsters”, except Zheng Xie Shao, all of them are good at painting plum blossoms. The plum blossoms in each family’s works have different charm. Jin Nong once commented that Wang Shishen’s painting of plum blossoms with “thousands of flowers and thousands of stamens, with cold fragrance in the tube, looks like the wind and snow in Baqiao”, and this scroll can be his representative work. The plum blossom in the painting is a wild plum belonging to “Baqiao” and “Riverside”. It is thin and has a cold and aloof air. The so-called “cold fragrance” is also a portrayal of Wang Shishen himself. He is “to spit the bitter taste in his chest into the frost branches on the paper”. Plum trunks are full of twists and turns, written with light ink and wet pen, vigorous and moist. The charred ink moss dots arranged in a string on the plum trunk are simple and elegant, and set off against the plum blossom sketched in a light brush to highlight the elegance and elegance of the plum blossom. As Jinnong said, “the flower circle moves, and the moss color dots come and go”
When Wang Shishen created this volume of plum blossom, his left eye was blind, so he had the seal of “left blind student”. Ten years later, unfortunately, he was blind, so he also had the “mind view”. Wang Shishen used his body and mind to understand and communicate with Meihua. “I feel that Meihua is an old friend”, and “it is a good time to meet with each other, but also a pity for Tongqing”. Learn from nature, blend in nature, and forget about things. This is also the inspiration of Wang Shishen’s plum painting to future generations of painters.
