The Painting of Purple Lantern Hall was originally painted by Zhao Mengfu. Qian Du had seen the authentic work in the capital, and then it was completed by his friend Mr. Yue Qiao. According to the description of the picture, we can see that the picture was made in the 24th year of Jiaqing (1819) of the Qing Dynasty, and the author was 56 years old. More than 20 years later (the 22nd year of Daoguang’s reign, 1842), this picture was obtained by the master of Mei Yu, and Qian Du was asked to write a new title on the picture

Its composition form and coloring have the characteristics of Wumen painting school, especially the influence of Wen Zhengming’s “fine brush” painting method.
