[Wang Shishen’s Plum Blossom Painting Axis]

Plum Blossom Painting Axis, Qing Dynasty, Wang Shishen’s painting, paper version, color setting, 93.4 cm vertically and 52.9 cm horizontally
The picture shows a vigorous plum tree, with white and flawless blooming plum flowers and crisscross branches, which shows the elegance of plum as a gentleman of flowers who “does not love the beauty of the world, and only goes up to the cold mountain to be the proud son”. The plum blossom in this picture is outlined in light ink, with fine lines. The plum trunk is made in thick ink, and the ink is dripping. The contrast between black and white is ingeniously formed between the stem and the flower, which makes the simple picture without losing its level change
The signature: “On July 8, Yongzhengyi Mao, a close friend Wang Shishen wrote under the banana shade of the Nest Forest Library.” The seal was “Shi Shen’s private seal”, “close friend”, and “Bingyin person”. “Yimao” is the 13th year of Yongzheng’s reign (1735). The author was 50 years old and his left eye had not been blind for a long time
