[Emerald fish box]
Clear, 24.8 cm long, 7.6 cm wide, and 2.9 cm thick
Emerald green. The box is fish-shaped and the two halves are buckled into a box. The fish body has fine scales, and the fins, tail and gills are embedded with rubies. The box is carved with the poem “Chanting Trace Dustan Jade Fish”, which was made by Emperor Qianlong
According to the poem, Emperor Qianlong believed that this work was a Kendostan jade, but this jade material was mainly produced in Myanmar, and the way of inlaying the gem on the fish was also different from that of Kendostan jade. Some scholars believed that this box was made by the Qing court.
