Copper gilded ring full

[Copper gold-plated ring is full]

Copper gold-plated ring is full and clear, with a height of 15 cm, a diameter of 11.7 cm, a shelf height of 45.7 cm, and a width of 18.5 cm. Made by the Qing Palace Building Office. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The bronze is gilded, and its front crossbeam is carved with “Guangxu Imperial” four-character seal script. The cup-shaped container in the middle of the frame can rotate freely on the bracket – if you fill the cup with water, the container will stand upright when it is half full, and when it is full, the container will overturn and the water will spill out. Because it is easy to overturn, it is also called “Qi Qi”
There is a crossbeam at the bottom of the frame, which is inlaid with a ring plate. There are sun inscriptions on both sides of the plate, which records the dialogue between Confucius and the temple keeper during the Zhou Dynasty. One side of the inscription said, “Confucius looked at the Zhou Temple, and there was an interjection device. Confucius asked the temple keeper,” Why is this device? “Confucius said,” The cover is the right seat device. “Confucius said,” I smell the right seat device, and if it is full, it will be covered, if it is empty, it will be covered, if it is in the middle, it will be correct, if it is? “Confucius said,” Yes. Confucius asked Zilu to take water and try it, and if it is full, it will be covered, if it is in the middle, it will be correct, if it is empty, it will be covered. “Confucius sighed and said,” Alas, evil is full, but it is not covered! “On the other side: “Zi Lu said: dare to ask if there is a way to be full? Confucius said: high and can be down, full and can be empty, rich and can be frugal, expensive and can be humble, intelligent and can be stupid, brave and can be timid, able to accept, broad and shallow, bright and can be dark, which means loss but not extreme, can do this way, only the most virtuous can reach it.” Confucius said to Zi Lu that the meaning is what people often say, “full of loss”, that is, complacency is easy to be defeated
According to the investigation report of the Aftermath Committee of the Qing Dynasty, this device was stored in the back hall of the Yongshou Palace in the Forbidden City when Puyi, the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, left the palace. According to the work files in the palace, it was the work of the Qing Palace Building Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the 21st year of Guangxu (1895). As a daily decoration in the imperial palace during the reign of Guangxu and Xuantong at the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was roughly placed by the young emperor in several cases of self-warning, so as not to forget to take full advice at all times
