The twelve Chinese zodiac signs are placed in a red sandalwood box, which is made of sapphire and carved in a round shape. The Chinese zodiac is a seated figure of the head of the animal, wearing a long-necked shirt, holding a scroll, waving a feather fan, carrying a basket of flowers, or holding a treasure bead, or holding a bow and arrow, or holding a stick, or holding a fist and holding it up, or holding both hands close to the sleeve. Their bottom is polished smooth and used to make jade seals. There are red sandalwood seats under the seats. In the box, the twelve zodiac animals form a circle, and there is a square jade box with 12 chapters of blue jade carving in the middle (the box is empty now). The jade box is covered with valley brocade and embossed with four dragons and Kui dragon patterns on the ground, with “0621” carved in the center. The four sides of the jade box are decorated with valley patterns on the ground. There are a total of 12 circular openers on the ground, with 12 shallow relief patterns inside. Each side of the box has a light relief scroll grass lace on the edge
The red sandalwood box containing jade is in the shape of twelve corners. In the middle of the box cover is the Yangwen seal script “Ten Thousand Years of Jiazi”, the outer seal script “Zi Chou Yin Mao Chen has not declared for Youxu Hai” for a week, and the outer seal script is the word “Long Life” composed of two circles of various seal characters. The cover of the box is filled with the gold official script “The Complete Book of the Four Treasury with the Twelve Chronicles”, which is signed with the words “Made by Emperor Qianlong Yi Wei Xia”, and the four-character square seal script with the words “A few flaws and a happy feeling” is engraved in the shade. On the twelve sides of the box, there are official script filled with poems made by Emperor Qianlong. The base of the wooden box is a carved 12-sided fence with twelve cloud-shaped feet
The Palace Museum has collected many sets of these sets of jade zodiac animals, which are slightly larger and some are more delicate and compact. The bottom of the jade beast is ground flat and can be used as a seal. What the jade box has left is unknown. The jade of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs is also of excellent quality. Most of them are high-quality sapphire and white sheepskin jade. The carved animals have different looks and are very vivid and interesting.
