The picture shows a beautiful woman holding a fan enjoying tea under the flourishing wutong tree. Tea originated in Bashu. Through the carving of “culture” by literati and officialdom of all dynasties, it gradually changed from the material category to the spiritual realm of “morality”, and became a tea culture with rich charm. Tea tasting also became a symbol of elegance. Through the moonlit door in the picture, we can see a corner of the black lacquer gold-painted bookshelf. The books in the letter above set off against the tea set in the lady’s hand, showing the woman’s knowledge and cultivation
This picture shows four different spatial environments, namely, the courtyard where the ladies are located, the interior with bookshelves, the cloister with red fences, and the courtyard with green bamboo outside the cloister.
