[Guqin Music “Autumn Hung” atlas]
Guqin Music “Autumn Hung” atlas, Ming Dynasty, 41.4 cm vertically and 71.9 cm horizontally. Picture: Silk, colored, 24.3 cm long and 62 cm horizontal. Manual: paper, regular script, 19.3 cm vertically and 58.1 cm horizontally
The atlas of the ancient zither song “Qiuhong”, which was handed down by Xumen of the Zhejiang School in the old collection of the Ming Palace, is a combined edition of the drawing and the music score after the drawing. It is divided into four volumes, with a five-color imitation of Song brocade on the surface, a plain silk sign, two characters of regular script “Qin spectrum”, and four characters of serial number “Ping”, “Sha”, “Luo”, and “Yan” under it. Because it is a zither score, it is not included in Shiqu Treasure Collection. The piano music is written in regular script on paper, with a title at the beginning of each paragraph. The picture is a silk ink meticulous painting, and the opening of each paragraph is drawn according to the content of the title, without the author’s name. On the back and the top of the last cover of each volume is the seal of “Treasure of Emperor Qianlong”
The first opening is “Qing Shang Diao” and “Jiazhong Qing Shang Yi”, and the second opening is the prelude “Flying Ming Yin”, under which the theme of “Autumn Hong” is entered. The pictures are arranged in sequence from the beginning of “Crossing the River” to the end of “Sound Breaking Chu Cloud”, a total of 36 paragraphs. Under the theme “Qiu Hong”, there are two lines of small characters that indicate: “The masterpiece contains the song of the Qing Dynasty, which is known as the Song of the Qing Dynasty and the Song of the Shang Dynasty, and the Song of the Qing Dynasty and the Song of the Chu Dynasty, and the Song of the Ladybug and the Song of the Xiaoshan are deleted by the two people.” This indicates that the music has been deleted by the two people. According to “Piaoweng”, it is the nickname of Xu Tianmin, a famous ancient pianist of the Zhejiang School in the Southern Song Dynasty. His grandson Xu Mengji is named Xiaoshan, and his son Xu Hezhong is a famous member of the Zhejiang School. Xu Hezhong is one of the famous pianists of “Wenhua Hall” in the first year of Hongwu. According to the first edition of the history of Qin, “Zhu Di, the founder of the Ming Dynasty, summoned Xu Hezhong and gave him a reward when he was in the palace.” This score may have been entered by Xu Hezhong at that time, so it is hidden in the palace
The two preludes at the front of this manual are the characteristics of the Zhejiang School Xumen zither score, and the two lines of small characters in the manual are suspected to be the work of Xu Hezhong. This is the only zither score combined with the picture. According to the Ming Painting Record, Zhu Fu, a painter of the Zhejiang School in the early Ming Dynasty, painted “the gathering of wild geese in Luzhou, which is extremely beautiful in Xiaoxiang”. Whether this figure is made by it needs further study
The song “Qiuhong” has been included in many ancient zither scores in the Ming and Qing dynasties. Although the beginning and end are basically the same, it generally starts with “Feiming Yin”. There are no “Qingshang Diao” and “Jiazhong Qingshang Yi”, and the order of the middle sections is mostly inconsistent. Compared with Zhu Quan’s “Mysterious Secret Manual” and Huang Xian’s “Wugang Qin Manual” in the early Ming Dynasty, the sequence of the tracks is also different. The musical score left by the Ming Palace is mounted in the original form, and the album has not been reassembled. Therefore, it is believed that this atlas should be handed down by Xumen of Zhejiang School, and the atlas is earlier than the “Magic Secret Manual”. So the author of the song “Autumn Hongs” is not Zhu Quan, but Guo Chuwang of the Southern Song Dynasty
