White jade twelve stars round pendant — Mao

[White Jade Twelve Star Circular Pendant – Mao]

White Jade Twelve Star Circular Pendant – Mao, Qing, 8.6 cm high, 0.7 cm thick, 6.6 cm round diameter
A standing rabbit is embossed on one side of the jade pendant, and the seal character “mao” is embossed on the other side. The upper part of the round pendant is carved out to form a double Kui dragon playing pearl button. The white jade is of fine texture and has glass light on its surface
The combination of “mao” and rabbit comes from the twelfth day, also known as the twelfth year beast. Since the Han Dynasty, China has used twelve local branches to record twelve hours of a day, each hour is equivalent to two hours. Mao Shi is the image of sunrise. The sun should have deviated from the divination, and the divination is like fire. The Yin Yao contained in the divination is the essence of the moon. The ancients often used the jade rabbit to refer to the moon, so they matched Mao with the rabbit. There is also a folk legend that the selection and arrangement of the twelve stars are determined according to the daily activity time of animals. From five to seven o’clock in the morning, it is the time of the day, and the rabbit runs out of the nest to eat the grass with dew. So the rabbit is connected with the time of the day, so there is the word “the rabbit”
