[Jinnong Buddha Worship Map Axis]
The Buddha Worship Map axis, Qing Dynasty, Jinnong painting, silk version, color setting, vertical 91.6 cm, horizontal 57.2 cm.
The picture shows a monk kneeling on a futon in the room, with his hands folded together. The round table in front is for Buddha, incense burner and scripture books, and the outside is surrounded by two trees. The lines of the characters’ clothing patterns are simple, smooth and slightly twisted, and the strokes of the houses and the double trees outside the houses are simple, clumsy and heavy, reflecting the meaning of the gold and stone strokes. The Buddha Ritual Map is a relatively common theme since the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Different from the themes with strong religious implications such as the King of the Fan and the King of the Dragon, the Buddhist Ritual Map pays more attention to personal religious and emotional experience. Jinnong meditates on Buddhism in his later years. This picture integrates his personal religious experience and emotion. The clumsy brushwork, rich levels of ink and pious emotion blend together, making the whole picture reflect the quiet Zen
