The plate is open and shallow, short and round. The whole body is painted in red and yellow, and carved in layers. The center of the plate is made of red lacquer carved with checkered flowers and brocade patterns, and yellow lacquer carved with dragons and phoenixes that look up to each other soar above the sea and river cliffs, playing among the tangled flowers and chasing a rolling fireball. The whole pattern is magnificent and luxurious, and the pattern is exquisite and vivid. The inner wall of the plate is made of four diamond-shaped lights, with flowers carved inside and auspicious miscellaneous treasures carved outside. The outer wall is painted red and the ground is carved with flower patterns. The foot is painted with red paint, and the upper edge is horizontally engraved with the regular script of “Ming Wanli Yiwei Year System” to fill in the gold
The dragon pattern carved on this plate, the opening form of the edge of the plate and the expression method of the broken flowers are all the characteristics of the lacquer carving in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. This plate can be used as a standard for dating
