The box is rectangular, with flat cover. The color is red, green and yellow. The edges of the cover and the box are carved with flowers and veins, which is a common practice of carving lacquer for Wanli. The foot is engraved with a gold regular script “Ming Dynasty Wanli Yiwei Year System”, which runs in eight characters
