[White-glazed plastic garlic bottle with red flat chi pattern]

White-glazed plastic garlic bottle with red flat chi pattern, Ming Jiajing, Jingdezhen kiln products, height 30 cm, caliber 2.6 cm, foot diameter 10 cm. The old collection of the Qing Palace
The mouth of the bottle is in the shape of garlic head, with a long and thin neck, shoulders off, belly bulging, and high circle feet. The bottle is covered with white glaze, and the glaze is white and delicate. The mouth is carved with thin lines of garlic petal, and the abdomen has adhesive marks for a week. A red dragon is molded from the neck to the shoulder, with the curved body upward, the mouth holding fairy grass, coiled from the shoulder to the neck, the tail connected with the head, and the limbs lying flat on the shoulder of the bottle
During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, it was popular to plastic and paste such ornaments as sterile dragon, lion, unicorn, fish, etc. on bottles, cans and other utensils. The decoration of this bottle is simple and generous, with white to red and strange colors. During the production, the bottle body and the dragon were shaped separately, and then the dragon body was pasted on the bottle body, covered with white glaze, and then the dragon body was coated with copper red glaze. After being fired at high temperature, the red dragon on the white glaze was raised, with magical effect and artistic appeal. This article has no style, and its thick white glaze is close to Yongle white glaze, but its shape and the decorative process of carving the dragon have the characteristics of Jiajing porcelain, which should undoubtedly be regarded as the work of the Jiajing Dynasty of the Ming Dynasty
According to the documents, during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, the high craftsman was “arrested and the reward was suspended” for firing bright red porcelain, but “the firing was not completed”, so it had to be replaced by alum, so it was rare to see bright red glazed vessels in the Jiajing porcelain handed down. The red glaze on this bottle is not alum red but bright red (copper red), and it is very rare. It is a masterpiece of the Jiajing Dynasty of the Ming Dynasty
