The sauce glaze is also called “purple gold glaze” because of its “purple gold earth” matching glaze. It is a high-temperature glaze with iron oxide as colorant. The content of iron oxide and ferrous oxide in the glaze is more than 5%, and its glaze color is similar to sesame sauce color. As early as the Song Dynasty, sauce-glazed porcelain was seen in many porcelain kilns in the north, of which the “Ziding” ware of Ding kiln was the most famous. During the Xuande period of the Ming Dynasty, the paste glazed porcelain produced by the Jingdezhen official kiln had a regular shape, warm and pure color, thick glaze and orange peel.
