[Carved Sanskrit lotus leaf type plate]

Carved Sanskrit lotus leaf type plate, 2.6 cm high, 23.9 cm long and 15.3 cm wide
The dish is oval and lotus leaf shaped, with oval feet. The inner part of the plate is in the shape of a six-petal lotus, with Sanskrit carved inside, and lotus flowers on both sides. The inner wall of the plate is embossed with eight auspicious patterns of twining lotus, which are pressed on the square brocade pattern ground. The pattern on the back of the plate is basically the same, but the eight auspicious patterns are changed to miscellaneous treasure patterns. The foot knife is engraved with gold “made in Xuande year of the Ming Dynasty” in a vertical line of six characters
This plate has a standard shape, fine knife work, fine grinding, and the ruffles can be turned freely, vivid and natural. It is the representative work of carved lacquer in the orchard factory in the early Ming Dynasty. Its shape, pattern and style all reflect the characteristics of carved lacquer in Xuande era. The bottom of the plate is painted with black and glossy paint. The paint quality is firm and beautiful. The broken stripes overlap like the bottom of the snake’s belly, commonly known as the broken snake’s belly, which is one of the bases for us to determine the age of the lacquer ware.
