The “gold painting” decoration technique on porcelain was first created by Ding Kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty. There are three kinds of decoration techniques: white glaze gold painting, black glaze gold painting and sauce glaze gold painting. Jingdezhen Kiln of the Yuan Dynasty inherited this technique and produced blue glaze gold painting ware. The red-glazed gold-drawing ware began in the Ming Xuande Dynasty. In addition to the plate, the Xuande red glaze gold-painting ware also has a skimming bowl, all of which depict cloud and dragon patterns.
