[underglaze red and white flower bowl with tangled branches]
underglaze red and white flower bowl with tangled branches, Ming Hongwu, height 16.7 cm, caliber 42 cm, foot diameter 22.7 cm
The bowl has straight mouth, deep arc belly, and round foot. Both inside and outside are decorated with underglaze red as the ground, commonly known as “underglaze red white”. The inner bottom is decorated with a circular pattern with a broken branch peony pattern inside, and the inner wall is painted with a tangled branch lotus pattern. The inside and outside of the mouth are painted with grass patterns, and the outside wall is painted with peony patterns. The deformed lotus petal with flower pattern is painted near the foot. The outer wall of the circle foot is painted with echo lines
The shape of this device is huge and thick, the decoration is fine, and the lines are fine and smooth. This kind of underglaze red white-white decoration technique is the opposite of the common underglaze red decoration method in Hongwu, which is quite rare.
