Xie Jin’s “Self-written Poems” volume commentary
There are seven self-written poems recorded in this volume, which were written by Xie Jin during his official period in Guangxi and Jiaozhou from 1407 to 1410. In addition to the sixth poem “Guo Teng County”, the remaining six poems are all found in Xie Jin’s “Wen Yi Collection”, in which individual poems differ from each other
The work was created in the eighth year of Yongle (1410), when Xie Jin was 42 years old, and just came to Beijing from a remote border to play. Soon after that, he was imprisoned and died in prison five years later. This volume of calligraphy is vertical and horizontal, unrestrained and unrestrained, and points are drawn in a regular way. There is no hasty and far-fetched place. The organization and management are particularly ingenious. The whole article is completed in one go with an air of self-reliance, showing Jiejin’s extraordinary ability to control the long scroll. Xie Jin is also very proud of this volume. He gave this masterpiece to Zhenqi, who was the son of Jielun, brother Jiejin, and kept his style in the name of the book
There is a post of Ming Wang Zhideng behind the picture. There are 25 seals in total. It was once collected by Anqi, Qianlong, Jiaqing and Xuantong Imperial Mansions in the Qing Dynasty. The book descriptions include “Life is spectacular”, “The View of Ink Margin”, “The Continuation of Shiqu Treasure Collection”, “Shiqu Essays” and other books.
