“Imperial supervision” jade sea east green pecking wild goose decoration

[“Imperial Supervisor” Yuhai East Green Goose Picking Ornament]

“Imperial Supervisor” Yuhai East Green Goose Picking Ornament, bright, 5.5 cm long, 3.5 cm wide and 1.4 cm thick
The jade decoration is dark white, crescent-shaped, with an openwork carved in the middle of a sea east green pecking wild goose’s head, forcing it to land in the water, with water waves and reed leaf patterns at the bottom. On the side column on the back of the work, there are the lines of “Da Ming Xuan De Nian System” and “Imperial Supervisor”
The “Imperial Supervisor” is the agency specialized in manufacturing and handling articles in the Ming Dynasty palace, so it is known that this article was made by the Ming Dynasty palace supervisor. There are very few Ming Dynasty jades handed down with the model year of manufacture, and only one piece with the “Imperial Supervisor” model is very precious. The pattern of “Haidong Green Goose Picking” reflects the custom of raising Uighurs and catching wild geese in northern China, and similar themes appear in a large number in Liao and gold jades. Judging from the shape, this ornament should be a woman’s headdress.
