Ding Kiln White Glazed Flower Mouth Bowl, Northern Song Dynasty, height 5.9 cm, caliber 19.2 cm, bottom diameter 5.6 cm
The bowl is in the shape of a six-petal flower, with an open mouth, a deep arc belly, and a round foot. White glaze is applied all over the body, and the glaze layer is seriously worn. It is inlaid with copper (silver) buckle
There are six labels on the inner wall of this bowl, in counterclockwise order, as follows
“Sign 1: No. 3/10 (Suzhou Code: No. 360) [check] (red seal) [extension] (should be written later)
Sign 2: [Re] (Rehe) No. 29303
Sign 3: The Palace Museum Checkpoint 165 [Ancient] (Antiquities Exhibition)
Sign 4: The new number of Liuping (Peiping) articles 11439
Sign 5: Twenty seven years (1938) Review the No. 38 miscellaneous glaze
Sign 6: The identification of the Song Ding kiln’s cymbal bowl “
There are often labels pasted in different periods on the collection of the Palace Museum. These seemingly ordinary labels witness the passing of cultural relics. This white glazed bowl is one of them. This bowl was originally stored in Rehe Palace (today’s Chengde Mountain Resort), and was later allocated to the Antiquities Exhibition Center established in 1914 (signature 1, signature 2); In 1931, the Japanese army invaded the Northeast, and the North China was in a critical situation. The antiquities exhibition and the Palace Museum collections were forced to move south. Some cultural relics that could not be transported away were reorganized and catalogued (signature 4), and the inventory and review were carried out in 1938 (signature 5); In 1948, the Museum of Antiquities was incorporated into the Palace Museum, and this bowl was officially included in the Palace Museum collection (signature 3), which was once stored in the Yanxi Palace Cultural Relics Warehouse (signature 1); In 1962, the number “Gu 143091” (the bottom of the bowl) represents the entry into the Forbidden City of Tibet before 1949
