[Jun Kiln Moon White Glazed Slag Bucket Flower Pot]
Jun Kiln Moon White Glazed Slag Bucket Flower Pot, Northern Song Dynasty, 22 cm high, 23 cm diameter, 14.5 cm foot diameter
The flowerpot is in the shape of cinder bucket. Large mouth, wide lip, long neck, round belly, high circle foot. There are five round holes for water seepage at the bottom. The carcass is thick and heavy. The moon white glaze is applied inside and outside. The bottom of the device is exposed with a gray tire, and the numeral “two” is engraved on the outside of the bottom and the inner wall of the ring foot. The number characters and strokes engraved on the circle foot are wide and deep, which are the same as the number style engraved on other “Guan Jun” artifacts, and should be carved by the craftsman of Jun kiln. The number characters carved on the outsole are thin and shallow, which should be supplemented by later generations
The glaze of Jun kiln porcelain is a kind of opalescent glaze, which is different from the glass-like transparent blue glaze, but is a typical opalescent blue glaze. The basic glaze color is a variety of blue opalescent glazes with different shades. The lighter blue glazes are called azure, and those lighter than azure are called moon white. Red is the color of reduced copper in the glaze, and purple is the result of the fusion of red and blue glazes. Jun Kiln pioneered the successful firing of copper red glaze, which is blue and purple in color, just like the gorgeous rosy clouds in the blue sky, and has unique artistic charm, so it is favored by the court.
