The opening is washed, the shallow arc wall, and the circle foot is slightly skimmed. The whole body is painted with light sky blue glaze, the glaze is translucent and moist, and the glaze surface has fine fragments. The outsole has three small sesame grain-like burn nail marks, and the exposed part is fragrant gray. The center of the outsole is engraved with the word “B”
The word “B” carved on the outer bottom of the implements is generally believed to be carved after entering the Qing court in Tibet. The Qing Dynasty emperors, who were good at appreciating the ancient times, once classified the antiques collected by the court into different grades. Therefore, some ancient objects in the Qing Dynasty palace were left with symbols such as “A”, “B” and “C” engraved at that time. There are also inscriptions such as “Cai” and “Empress Pavilion of Shoucheng Palace” on the Song Dynasty Ruyao porcelain in the Palace Museum, which are generally believed to have been carved earlier. It is speculated that the word “Cai” may be related to Cai Jing or his son Cai Ta, a powerful minister in the Huizong period of the Northern Song Dynasty, and “The Queen’s Pavilion of Shoucheng Palace” is the name of the palace in the Song Dynasty
According to the literature, the main ingredient of the agate used as the raw material of the glaze in Ru kiln is silicon dioxide, and the main ingredient of the glaze is also silicon dioxide. Therefore, the addition of the agate will not have much impact on the nature of the glaze, which can only show that the cost of firing the palace porcelain is spared. “Ice crack”, “fragrant gray embryo” and “sesame nail” are the important basis for identifying the true and false Ru porcelain.
