Stele of Huashan Temple in the Eastern Han Dynasty

[The Stele of Huashan Temple in the West of the Eastern Han Dynasty]

The Stele of Huashan Temple in the West of the Eastern Han Dynasty is one of the four rubbings of Huashan Temple handed down from generation to generation. Because it was hidden in the Wanjuan Bookstore in Fengxi, Ningbo in the Ming Dynasty, Ningbo was called Siming in ancient times, so it was named after the place
This book is mounted on a whole paper, without cutting, and preserves the original shape of the Han stele, leaving the Tang inscription on both sides of the inscription, which is missing from the other three rubbings. The inscriptions include Li Shangqing, Zhang Siqing, Cui Zhibai, Li Deyu, Cui Jin, Wang Shi and other famous officials during the reign of Tang Dahe (829-830), as well as Wang Ziwen’s inscription in the eighth year of Yuanfeng (1085) of the Northern Song Dynasty. The whole length is 175 cm, and the width is 84.8 cm. The ancient paper is mottled, and the ink color changes. Yan Kejun said, “As light as the clouds and the moon, all the bones are alive”, which is a wonderful speech
In the 52nd year of Qianlong’s reign (1787), the historian Qian Daxin visited Ningbo for the compilation of the Monument List of the Tianyi Pavilion. The owner of the Tianyi Pavilion presented Dongbi, the son of Qian Daxin, with the four Ming copies, so this extension was carried from Jiangnan to Beijing. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, this Tuo belonged to Duan Fang, the governor of the two rivers. Duan Fang’s daughter married Yuan Shikai’s son and used it as a dowry. The Yuan family fell, and the four Ming books were bought by Hu Huichun from Hong Kong. Hu presented it to the Palace Museum in 1975
