[Yue Kiln Blue Glaze Holding Pot]

Blue Glaze Holding Pot, Tang Dynasty, 13.4 cm high, 5.9 cm caliber, 7.3 cm foot diameter
The pot has a short neck, a short shoulder, a bulging belly, a shallow round foot, and five burn marks on the round foot. One side of the neck is equipped with an eight-ribbed short stream, and the other side is equipped with a crank. The inside and outside of the pot are glazed. The glaze color is blue and yellow, crystal clear, and the glaze surface has small lines
This blue-glazed pot was obtained by Mr. Chen Wanli in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province in 1936. It was unearthed in the tomb of the wife of the Beihai Prince’s Mansion, a servant of the Ministry of Household of the Tang Dynasty in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. The epitaph records the age of the tomb as the fifth year of the Tang Dynasty (810). Therefore, it is a utensil with an exact date that can be verified, and is the standard for judging the porcelain of the Yue kiln in the Tang Dynasty, reflecting the firing level of the Yue kiln utensils at the beginning of the 9th century
In 1954, Mr. Chen Wanli donated this pot to the Palace Museum.
