This volume is the only ink of Du Mu, a poet and calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty, and is also one of the rare calligraphic works of celebrities in the Tang Dynasty. Zhang Haohao is a geisha with beautiful face and outstanding talent. Du Mu’s five-character poem is written for her. The poem describes Zhang Haohao, a young geisha, who was first favored by a senior official, Shen Chuanshi, and ended up in exile due to Shen’s death. It expresses infinite sympathy for her. It is a famous poem by Du Mu. The last two sentences of the ink in Du Mu’s Fan Chuan Ji are missing the words “full” and “one book” due to their disability, which does not hurt the overall spirit of the book
This volume of book is made of hemp paper and is very fine. The book is written with hard pen, which is vigorous and has many forks. These are the characteristics of the use of paper and strokes in Tang Dynasty calligraphy. “Xuanhe Shupu”, a book review of Du Mu’s calligraphy, said that the author’s poetry and calligraphy have a unified style. In the front of the volume, Zhao Ji, Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, bookmarked “Tang Du Mu Zhang Haohao Poems”, and sealed with the seals of the imperial palace of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty, which preserved the decoration style of the Northern Song Dynasty. Later, it was handed over to Jia Sidao of the Song Dynasty, Xiang Yuanbian of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Xiaosi, Qing Liang Qingbiao, and other people, who entered the Tibetan government during the reign of Qianlong. According to Volume VII of the Examination of Calligraphy and Painting in Shigu Hall, the postscript of the Yuan people after the volume was moved from the Qianzi Wen written by Zhao Mo of the Tang Dynasty. This volume was once taken out of the palace by Puyi, the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and was owned by Zhang Boju after being dispersed among the people. In 1956, Mr. Zhang Boju donated it to the government. This precious cultural relic was re-collected by the Palace Museum.
