[Pottery painted male figurines]
Pottery painted male figurines, in the second year of the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty (714), 76.5 cm high
The male figurines wear Futou on the head, a round collar with a right lapel, a lace at the waist, and high boots on the square board. With arms bent and hands clenched, it looks like a horse or camel in posture
The clothes and ornaments of this figurine are simple, with implicit expression and both form and spirit. In the Tang Dynasty, from the royal family to the common people, it was fashionable to wear Futou, regardless of the status of men and women. This figurine was unearthed in the tomb of Dai Lingyan in Luoyang in the 1930s. A total of 1 civilian figurine, 1 king figurine, 1 male figurine, and 2 camel figurines were unearthed in the tomb, all of which are painted in plain pottery, and all of them are quite tall, which is in proportion to the tall camel, and is the best of the Tang figurines in Luoyang.
