[Pottery Crouching Sheep]
Pottery Crouching Sheep, Tang, 8 cm high, 15.4 cm long
The sleeping sheep has a large head, thick neck, wide eyes, two corners curled on both sides of the head, and the corners are carved with fine linear ring patterns, and the neck is carved with dense dotted line patterns. The bones and muscles in all parts of the sheep’s body are clear, and the limbs are prone. The work skillfully uses local dotted line decoration to express the overall dense wool, which has a three-dimensional effect
After the Han Dynasty, the custom of thick burial rose again in the Tang Dynasty. The burial object of this period, Tao Yang, is more plump and robust than before, with stronger muscle sense and more accurate shape. The whole work tends to be realistic.
